Morning chums 🙂
Before we launch head-first into today’s post I’d just like to say a little thank you to everyone for their fab feedback on yesterday’s post How I Plan & Schedule My Blog Posts. It was such a treat reading in the comments how some of you guys organise your own blog schedules & a great opportunity to compare notes on what ways work best for us individually. I have to say I’m chuffed to the bones to be part of such a thriving & encouraging online community of beauty, fashion & lifestyle bloggers. So thank y’all for taking the time to read and share your own thoughts, very much appreciated gals!
Talking of budding blog buddies I have a gorgeous gal here to introduce y’all to today as the camera craving Catriona from Catriona Miranda stops by for a quick chatter about behind the scenes of her chic little corner of the interweb! She’s currently working on her fabulous new home, in fact you can take a quick peek at her recent project over on the blog right now. However for those of you who enjoy a dose of fashion, lifestyle, travel & general yumminess there’s plenty else to feast your eyes upon!
Sitting comfy? Then it’s high time we meet the girl Behind The Blog…
In only 5 words describe what readers can expect from your blog:
Lifestyle, Shopping Hauls, Reviews, Photography and plenty of Loveliness!
What inspired you to start blogging?
My Father helped me set up my first blogging space years ago, I was excited but didn’t really know what to do with it all and eventually it faded out. I decided to get started again as a way of staying in touch with the people around me in this day and age where life moves fast. I was then further inspired by the bloggers I came to meet along the way! It is lovely to learn from and meet new people who I might not have otherwise met. That is the power of blogging!
Tell us about your blog name… what made you decide on it?
It’s funny you ask 🙂 I actually just recently did a blog post on why I chose my blog name! You can see the post here but basically it’s my first name and one of my middle names. I used to have a different blog name – ‘mis’organised’ which I liked because I am a self proclaimed ‘organisation freak’ and the play on words worked well in many ways. I decided to change it to my name though because that is how I am known across the social media universe.
Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block & if so how do you overcome it?
Luckily, no! I think this is partly due to the fact that I only blog in my spare time at the moment and my brain is a creative pot of fun ideas of which I can’t keep up with. Its great though, I keep a list of course so hopefully the lack of BB should last for a while!
What’s your favourite post to date?
Tough choice but at this moment in time it is this post I did for a photography course I did.
Describe your everyday clothes style:
Casual, colourful, practical and chic.
What are your current top 3 beauty items?
1) Skin Food by Weleda. The beauty industry swears by the stuff, I use it every other time I shower for a deep nourishing experience.
2) Dr Paw Paw Balm, it’s a multipurpose balm. I bought three and have one in each bag, a life saver for lips, skin, hands, stray eyebrows and general beauty mis-haps!
3) My mini benefit products from their Christmas Advent calendar. Yess apologies I know I just said the C word wayyy too early and I know this is several items, but there is nothing like having mini’s of some of your favourite products. Pop them in your handbag and they are always to hand when you require a touch if glam.
How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?
I love a good walk, fresh air and nature even when it’s cold and wintry. By the time you get home you have forgotten your woes! Then I would follow the walk with a good meal and company and a snuggle in front of the TV (plus a warming fire in winter). Ah bliss.
Describe your ideal Saturday night:
Well I work as an Events Manager and that includes plenty of weekend work. So an ideal Saturday night would consist of feeling accomplished from the day’s work (as we always do a great job ;)) and helping the team wind down and continue our success into the evening. If I am not working, I enjoy hanging with friends or family, generally dinner parties!
What’s your most cherished childhood memory?
Playing with my two brothers, both different and lovely in many ways. We were real ‘make believe’ kids who spent a lot of time outside inspecting ants and making dens, watching the horses in the field opposite and racing each other on our bikes. Too many great memories.
What was your favourite school subject?
Art. Oh I loved it. I took great pride in those lessons. I was a good student (I think) but I was a very good student in art as I was so eager to learn!
What’s your dream job?
I have dream jobs, plural, because I am cool like that. I would like to be a multi-functioning human being. At the moment I am pursuing my love of photography and home renovation whilst working a 9-5 and working as an Event Manager for some amazing companies. I am possibly the epitome of the saying ‘can’t sit still’? *raises eyebrows, smiling*. There is not much I wouldn’t like to try!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Well I would like to have completed ‘Project 49’ – My house to home renovation taking place now. I am sure that will be done though! So perhaps I will be on the next project. I also see maybe a mini me or a mini Angus. I hope to have ticked off lots of my goals too.
What top 5 things are on your bucket list?
1) Hold a huge charity clothes swap at one of my favourite venues and raise plenty of dollar for charity.
2) Complete ‘Project 49: House to Home’ and blog the progress.
3) Travel to an area of each continent with Angus and immerse ourselves in ‘real life’ rather than tourist life and/or travel Europe.
4) Become a yoga pro.
5) Become a great photographer, a pro and use it to document many amazing things.
I have a whole page of its own dedicated to some of my year goals, go here if you would like to see more and my progress!
What’s your biggest achievement to date?
I would have to go against the grain a little and say that it is getting to where I am without a university degree. Do not get me wrong, I hugely admire those people who have studied hard and earned their stripes in amazing careers. I decided not to go to university and feel a sense of achievement for getting places I didn’t think I could.
Who inspires you?
My mum, my dad, both my brothers and Angus. They all inspire me every day to be a better version of me. So cliché but it’s the whole and utter-butter truth!
Do you have a favourite inspirational quote?
I love a good quote and currently its “if you always do, what you always did.. then you will always get what you always had” basically don’t except things to change if you do nothing about it.
What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?
Go for it!! But hold on for a second… just have fun with it, make a change and improve it a little every day and you will look back soon enough in awe at what you have achieved. Don’t plough in an expect it to look like a piece of artwork from a few hours graft. It will take months in reality and you will still be working on it months later 🙂
