Aloha chums, super excited today as Confetti & Curves showcases it’s brand new series image for Behind The Blog… what’s your thoughts ladies? I do hope y’all like it as much as I do. A change is good every once in a while & seeing as I’d been getting a little tired of the old image for quite a while, what better time to start anew?! Yep I’m ceasing the moment 😀 However my quest for zesting things up doesn’t stop there… if you’ve any suggestions for questions YOU would like the bloggers to answer in future interviews then I’d love to hear them in the comments below!
However, onto today’s blogger – the gorgeous Mishale from Beautiful New Chapter (another inspiration for our fab new series image!) joins me on the virtual sofa this morning as she discusses life behind her blossoming online haven. If you haven’t already check her fabulous corner of the interweb then prepare yourself for a treat as I’m pretty sure you’ll be adding this talented gal to your subscription list!
Anyways enough from me, grab yourself a cuppa & get comfy as we take a peek Behind The Blog…
In only 5 words describe what readers can expect from your blog:
Fun, sarcastic, honest, reviews & inspiration
What inspired you to start blogging?
As I said in my very first post it’s something I just spontaneously did at 3 am on a school night. It was in my last weeks of senior year and could never sleep because I kept thinking about stuff. So I just started writing an intro blogpost and a review and published my blog. I know it’s not really poetic but that’s how I roll. Also I used to hate to write because that’s what my teachers always told me. I guess it was my rebellion but now look at me haha
Tell us about your blog name… what made you decide on it?
I wanted a fresh start after graduating high school because I knew I was not going to see anyone from my school ever again. I finally wanted to be able to rant about stuff, talk about makeup or just share my daily life struggles without someone judging. I kept thinking about names representing a new start. After 2 hours I gave up and was like “you know what we’ll do beautiful new chapter.” And that worked perfectly.
Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block & if so how do you overcome it?
I haven’t yet. I’ve only been blogging for about 6 months. 2 of these I spent on vacation. But since I had to pre-write and schedule like 20 posts I definately struggled to come up with different things that people would like to read. After all I had to decide on 2 months worth of content. And the procrastinator I am of course I didn’t start until a week before I left. Whenever I don’t know what to write about I just think about what I would feel like reading right now and then I actually end up writing about that. Simple as that.
What’s your favourite post to date?
Wow that is a hard one. I don’t know. I love all of them. But one that is very close to my heart and quite personal is this one here:beautifulnewchapter.wordpress.com/2015/05/20/remember-always-keep-going/
I’m also pretty proud of every interview I did so far. One went life in August and another one is coming in October.
Describe your everyday clothes style:
Well since I’m not in school anymore I pretty much resemble a drug addicted homeless person 24/7 but if I decide to wear normal clothes I’ll normally go for ripped jeans, a shirt and a cardigan or a flannel. Depending on the weather I pair it with boots or sandals.
What are your current top 3 beauty items?
Chanel tan de soleil bronzer, Anastasia brow whiz and YSL rouge volupté shine lipstick
How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?
I usually put on a face mask, light a scented candle and watch a movie with my family. Or just listen to music.
Describe your ideal Saturday night:
I love to get fancy and go out to dinner with my mom and then bing watch TV shows until we fall asleep haha
What do you do to relax?
Like I said above. Either a face mask and a candle or tv. Yes TV actually relaxes me it’s weird. My favorite shows to watch if I want to relax is prison break or lost. Haha
Everyone has their bad habits, what’s yours?
I’m really OCD when it comes to my possessions. I won’t wear certain clothes if I don’t know where we’re going because I’m scared I’ll ruin them. Same goes for makeup. I hate bringing makeup somewhere thinking it will break (talk about struggling when I’m flying/traveling)
What’s your most cherished childhood memory?
I literally loved every day I experienced before the age of 5. I hated going to kindergarten or school. No but seriously it’s hard to decide on one. I just remember that I used to watch MTV when i was little (back in the 90s) and dancing to the backstreet boys.
What was your favourite school subject?
English! Since I’m from Germany it’s was a foreign language for me. I started studying it in 3rd grade and have treated it like my mother language ever since.
What’s your dream job
I haven’t decided yet. I’m only 18 so what do I have to lose ? Guess I’m just going to wing it like the rest if my life. I know for sure though it’ll be something artsy. Oh god I hate science.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
What is the saying “somewhere where I don’t have to look at the price tag while shopping ?” Yes that is so true in my case. On a serious note though I just want to be happy and in a loving environment….. And have unlimited supplies of makeup.
What top 5 things are on your bucket list?
Go to NYC, go to Hawaii, learn more about the art of makeup, go to Paris, learn Spanish.
What’s your biggest achievement to date?
Surviving high school? No kidding. Having the bravery to do what I do. Learning languages, studying abroad, learning to accept my self. Living without regrets. Taking risks.
Who inspires you?
A lot of people, artists, actors, TV shows, my family, my friends, strangers, places I travel to. It’s weird but whenever I meet someone or are somewhere I start to analyze the vibe. Then i realize if and how I want that vibe to influence me.
Do you have a favourite inspirational quote?
Yes I do. It’s actually my sub-headline on my blog: “if you risk nothing, then you risk everything”
What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?
Don’t think about others. Don’t think about what they would think or do, don’t think about wether ipeople read your blog or not. You don’t have to have a fancy layout or review the latest makeup products. As long as you have fun and people can feel your passion and spirit you’re good. Everything else will come with time. And if not, hey not everyone is supposed to make a living blogging.
