Hey Beauty Buddies
What an exciting start to the week it’s been, firstly a big thanks to all who left such fabulous feedback on yesterdays post The Me Spree: Boxing Day Beauty Bargains – if you haven’t already checked it out then I’m sure you’ve figured out that I’ve managed to brave the seasonal sales for a few nifty little bargains… which I’m hoping are every bit as impressive as their price tag! In other news…. yesterday the Confetti & Curves YouTube channel hit a whopping 500 subscribers!!!! *cheers of joy* Okay, so it may be a drop in the ocean compared to others but for me it’s a maaahooosive achievement. Of course a great big thank you to y’all for subscribing, hitting the ‘thumbs up’ and of course taking the time to watch my uploads. You’re a truly awesome bunch 😀
Talking of awesome, I’ve a hugely talented gal gracing the virtual sofa this morning as the lovely Jennifer from Jennifer Leigh G settles down for a quick chatter about behind the scenes of her blossoming beauty & lifestyle blog. Originally hailing from gorgeous North Carolina but currently living in the thriving city of Chicago, Jennifer has been an avid fan of writing most of her life. Combining her love of scribing with a sprinkling of lifestyle, beauty, interests and occasional yummy recipes (amongst other things) there’s literally something for everyone over at her online haven so do be sure to stop by, say a big hello and hit that follow button – this is one blogger you’ll be inspired to keep up with!

In only 5 words describe what readers can expect from your blog:
A little bit of everything.
What inspired you to start blogging?
I’ve always kept a journal, since as far back as I can remember, and after sharing bits and pieces of my life on Instagram and receiving positive feedback and gaining a great following there, I decided a blog would be a great way to take things a step further. I have been fortunate, as the blogging community has welcomed me with open arms. I’m thankful for that.
Tell us about your blog name; what made you decide on it?
The way I chose the name for my blog, Jennifer Leigh G., isn’t very interesting. My blog’s name is my own, and while it may lack in creativity, I can’t imagine it being anything else.
Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block? If so, how do you overcome it?
I’ve been fortunate enough to not experience this while blogging. I believe it’s because I blog about whatever comes to mind; I don’t have one specific category I stick to. I have, however, experienced writer’s block on more than one occasion while writing short stories, and it is awful!
What’s your favorite post to date?
Oh wow, I’m not sure I have a favourite. While it isn’t a typical post, I suppose it would have to be my engagement announcement. It can be viewed here… http://jenniferleighg.com/2015/08/08/does-this-ring-make-me-look-engaged/
Describe your everyday clothes style.
My style is all over the place, but I tend to keep things fairly casual for day-to-day wear. I love dressing simple clothing up with classic pieces of jewelry, a nice pair of shoes, and a great handbag.
What are your current top 3 beauty items?
It’s hard to choose only three! I love all of the products I’m currently using, but if I have to choose just three…
I’ve got to have coconut oil; I use it daily for numerous purposes, especially as a moisturizer for my lips. When I can’t have the real thing with me, I use EOS Coconut Milk lip balm. It’s mildly sweet and leaves my lips super soft.
Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream is a new must-have for me. I’ve published a review about it on my blog; you can find it at http://jenniferleighg.com/2015/08/29/supergoop-daily-correct-cc-cream-keeper-or-pass/
Lastly, Color City’s HD Powder is amazing! The staying power it gives my makeup is superb. Love it!
How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?
Change into some super comfy clothes, grab a bottle of wine, watch some of my favorite T.V. shows (Bones, Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, 48 Hours, Ghost Hunters, etc.), and enjoy a relaxing night with my fiancé.
Describe your ideal Saturday night.
Sometimes all I want to do is cook something delicious for dinner, and watch a movie. But I love getting dressed up and hitting the streets of downtown for a fun night out, too. Whatever I’m doing, I’m happy as long as I have my fiancé and great people around.
What do you do to relax?
I enjoy reading, blogging, and heading to the beach and having a piña colada or two. There’s nothing quite like getting into a warm bubble bath with candles lit after having a long day, either.
Everyone has their bad habits; what’s yours?
Not following through on projects I start. I was concerned I may not be able to stick with blogging because of this bad habit, but by not restricting myself to one specific topic, I’ve been able to keep up with it.
What’s your most cherished childhood memory?
There are many! Weekend trips to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, awesome birthday parties, New Year, Easter, and Christmas celebrations, horseback riding, trips to the mountains in North Carolina… just to name a few.
What was your favourite school subject?
What’s your dream job?
Any job where I’m helping others achieve their health and wellness goals. I’m fortunate to be able to do that.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Oh, I’ve never been good at answering these types of questions. Wherever I am and whatever I’m doing, I hope to be happy.
What top 5 things are on your bucket list?
Travel to New Zealand, Ireland, and Germany.
Go on a ghost hunt in Waverly Hills Sanatorium.
Write a horror/suspense novel.
Take a road trip across the United States with friends.
Be in a movie (done!).
What’s your biggest achievement to date?
Living my life happily with no regrets.
Who inspires you?
It’s not so much who, but what. Life inspires me, the places I go and the things I do are what inspire me.
Do you have a favourite inspirational quote?
I do. ‘You are what you are when no one else is looking.’ I believe more people need to think about that.
What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?
Have patience with yourself. Blog about whatever your heart desires, what you know, what you love. Don’t allow yourself to be confined to one specific topic, and you won’t get bored. I enjoy what I do, I enjoy writing reviews, and sharing my ideas and life experiences with others. It may sound corny, but as long as you’re doing what you love, it will come naturally.
