Behind The Blog featuring Billie from Blended & Beautiful…

Blended and Beautiful

Hey Beauty Buddies…

Firstly a big thanks to each and every one of you for the awesome feedback and support on yesterday’s feature Blogging Goals for 2016! For me, having goals in all parts of my life is incredibly important & being able to look back on yesterdays post throughout the year will help keep me focused on what I’m aiming for over the next 12 months! And of course, having my super supportive readers & blog buddies along for the adventures can only mean it’s going to be a great year ahead! Right chums? 😉

Talking of blog buddies, I have the first blogger of 2016 settling down on the virtual sofa this morning for a quick chatter, it’s the lovely Billie from Blended & Beautiful. This cosmetic craving gal and her blossoming blog is one to keep an eye on as it’s literally bursting with Billie’s fantastic make-up features… and for those who are just grasping the basics of make-up her beginner series is the perfect read for an abundance of helpful hints & tips!

So grab a cuppa & get yourself comfy as we prepare to take a peek behind the blog…

In only 5 words describe what readers can expect from your blog:

A whole lotta makeup goodness!

What inspired you to start blogging?

I have been a big fan of beauty bloggers and youtube guru’s. I also have a crazy, mad passion for makeup and beauty in general. So I thought if they could do it, I can too! It took a while, but I’m here now and I’m not going anywhere! 🙂

Tell us about your blog name… what made you decide on it?

It was actually a spare of the moment thing as I had to change my previous blog name. Now I am thinking of changing it again as the perfectionist in me decided to come out and play! I am maybe just thinking of going with my name.. ooh decisions.

Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block & if so how do you overcome it?

YES! I have had a couple of experiences with blogger’s block. I find waiting for it to pass is best for me, otherwise I end up writing posts that aren’t as good as they can be. My heart is not really in it, so I like to wait and try and get inspiration from pinterest, youtube or other beauty blogs. Plus, it’s an excuse to sit in front of my laptop all day watching Jaclyn Hill!

What’s your favourite post to date?

This is a hard question! I have really been enjoying my Beginner Makeup Series, and I have a couple of fall related makeup posts that are coming up soon that I am really excited about!

Describe your everyday clothes style:

Leggins and baggy jumpers. Occasionally I will pull out a florally dress or top but there’s nothing too fancy about my wardrobe! I am more of a handbag girl!

What are your current top 3 beauty items?

Just 3?! I would have to say my Soap and Glory Brow Archery Pencil, Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation & My Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. But then I love the Mac Pro Longwear Concealer and the Sleek Barekissed Illuminator… I’m going to move on before I get carried away!!

How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?

A long soak in a hot bath with a good book. Then a tub of Ben and Jerrys in bed whilst watching friends! Or gossip girl…

Describe your ideal Saturday night:

I am not a big drinker so I would rather go out for a meal then snuggle in bed with a good film and an extra fluffy blanket! The best part? No hangover!

What do you do to relax?

Read, blog, watch YouTube videos, take a nice hot bath or go for a drive!

Everyone has their bad habits, what’s yours?

I am really bad at biting my nails, bad I know! I am also terrible at leaving half full fizzy cans and I have the obsessive need to constantly make my bed especially before I get in it at night!

What’s your most cherished childhood memory?

Every Friday after I finished school I would get picked up by my Nan and my Grandad. We would have pancakes every week without fail, my Nan used to stand behind me whilst I flipped them and my Grandad would always have his head in his newspaper. Then I would have a hot chocolate before bed and would get woken up multiple times a night by my Nan coming in to make sure that I was still alive. I also loved the Christmases at my Dads house as we would have marsh mellows on the fire and we would all curl up on the sofa and watch Christmas films together. I could go on forever… but I’ll leave it there hehe!

What was your favourite school subject?

I have always been a creative person, so I loved art. I also really enjoyed English and Resistant Materials too!

What’s your dream job?

Honestly, I still have no clue. I am constantly changing my mind but the more I get pulled into this beauty world, the more I think I would absolutely love it as a career!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Hopefully still blogging. I would love to have my own house and a little grey kitten too. I would love to go back to college again as well, so maybe I would have finished college and would be starting a career? Who knows!

What top 5 things are on your bucket list?

Travel especially to New York
Own and decorate my own house
Get a job I love
Do a gap year in Australia
Push myself and work hard on my blog.

Who inspires you?
I would say it is a mix of people. Beauty wise it has got to be Jaclyn Hill.. I am a true Hillster and I can’t help it! In everyday life I would say my sister. She is constantly working hard and on the go, she is the most amazing mother to my niece and she’s just a generally all round strong person. We didn’t always get along growing up, but now we are really close and I really appreciate all the things she does.

What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?

Do it! It is such a great feeling knowing that you own your own blog and you can share your own passions with the world. Be yourself, push yourself and have fun with it! Don’t be scared, if you are, there are plenty of lovely bloggers here that will soon welcome you with open arms!

  1. Hello Karen and Billie,
I really enjoyed reading the interview. Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation is a holy grail product for me, can’t imagine my make-up without using this one. I love youtube make-up videos, Most of my adult years until recently, I had misconception that make-up is ONLY for celebrities, thanks to all the make-up bloggers and you-tubers, through their tutorials and reviews, make-up has reached to every girl possible 🙂
Keep up the great work you two!
