The Make-Up Menu: Monthly Favourites…

The Makeup Menu Monthly Favourites

As many of my regular readers know only too well by now, I blooming love creating regular make-up menu’s around specific looks or tones. However this month I thought I’d shake things up a bit by rounding up my favourite finds during the month of January & basing an single look around each of the items! The best thing is chums is that all of these items are super affordable & readily available in most drug stores – so for those on a budget, on the look out for a great beauty bargain or simply just wanting to divulge in some fricken awesome beauty finds then check out this fabulous face wardrobe; I’m sure you’ll be every bit as impressed with them as I’ve been so far…

Olay 2 n 1 Firm & Lift (Hydration + Primer) : This has really surprised me just how well it’s adapted to my skin & the entire range of foundations I’ve been using. It copes effortlessly with everything from matte to dewy finishes by keeping my make-up looking fresh as well as leaving my skin feeling nourished without any oily type residue. Maybelline FIT ME Foundation in Classic Ivory: Okay, this is an unusual one for me yet something I seem to have totally fallen for. I wouldn’t personally call it full coverage (compared to a multitude of others I use) however the FIT ME foundation is totally buildable to achieve more oomf yet it manages to stay looking incredibly natural on the skin. It retains a nice dewy glow, almost reminiscent of a heavy duty BB Cream, which is something I’m not normally into admittedly. As unique as it is for my tastes in foundation I’d encourage y’all to give it a go… it may be a new finish for me, but I’m loving it!

Maybelline 24 Hour Super Stay Concealer in Light: It’s took me eons to find a great concealer that works well with my skin tone and foundations, however this one really seems to have nailed the job. It’s full coverage & sets pretty quickly but wow does it work. Yet another staple I’ll continue to stock up on!

L’oreal Lumi Magique in Medium: I can’t tell you how hard it is to find these pens in stock, particularly the ‘light’ shade, however I can totally see why. Acting as a semi-concealer/cream highlighter, this gorgeous little rose gold pen just adds a touch of brightness to underneath my eye area & down the bridge of my nose. There’s no shimmer so those of you who like a matte illuminator may just have stumbled across a new staple in your face wardrobe.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette in Hot Spice: Yet again Makeup Revolution wows me with another one of it’s pocket friendly products. Having been sent this as a complimentary tester with a recent order it’s opened my eye’s (and cheek bones) to a whole new selection of blush tones I’d probably have over looked. Some of the deeper tones are even great for contouring! All in all a superb palette that everyone should have on their wish list!

I Heart Makeup Blushing Hearts in Bursting With Love: This stunning baked blush and highlighter colour trio gives such a sweet wash of dewy pinkness to the skin. It’s incredibly pigmented and the three glorious tones work perfectly together. Having previously read astounding reviews about it, I couldn’t wait to try it out for myself. It’s now something I use everyday and get numerous compliments on… well worth the pennies in my opinion 😉 How cute it the little box?!

I Heart Makeup Blushing Hearts

Makeup Revolution Iconic 2 Palette: It’s described as ‘the perfect mix of pearl, shimmer & matte shades’ and for me that couldn’t be any more accurate. I’m incredibly impressed at how pigmented, long lasting and super similar to its high end rivals this palette really is. So much so that I’m struggling to find any reasons why I would pay an extra £30 for something that does pretty much the same job  *gasps of shock*

Rimmel Glam Eyes Professional Liquid Liner: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… this is undoubtedly my staple liquid liner. I really can’t see myself budging from this as it’s super easy to use with a beautiful smooth finish.

Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama in Very Black: I’ve just recently treated myself to this eccentrically coloured little tube of lash goodness. Okay, so it’s not an ideal everyday mascara for me – simply because it’s too darn good at plumping up and lengthening the lashes, however if you like a heavy duty mascara that creates lashings of volume then I’d highly suggest you give this a go!

Bourjois Shine Edition Shade 24 Rose xoxo

Bourjois Shine Edition in Rose xoxo: Words literally cannot describe how much I’ve fallen head over heels with this gorgeous moisturising lippy. It’s super hydrating with a beautiful wash of colour that just seems so natural and incredibly easy to wear. I’ll definitely be investing in more of these. An unbeatable 10/10 for me, this is by far January’s biggest winner!

  1. Love the finished look.
A great bunch of products here. I recently bought the iconic 1 eyeshadow palette and I just keep getting blown away by the quality of those Make up Revolution products. I have the exact feeling you described here (ofcourse), I cant quite get myself to part with 40 euro for a Naked palette when I already have well performing similar versions at a budget price.

  2. You look absolutely stunning Karen, your skin looks so flawless! I love Maybelline’s Fit Me concealer, but one thing that hasn’t drawn me into the foundation is the fact it doesn’t have a pump 😦 I always love your eye makeup! xx
