Behind The Blog featuring Paige from What Paige…

What Paige

Hey Beauty Buddies,

Thanks y’all so much for the great feedback/tweets/comments etc on yesterdays post Beauty Blender Vs W7 Power Puff. Honestly gals I had such a blast creating it! I think this is one of the biggest aspects of beauty blogging that I adore so much… finding new products & testing out the big names against affordable alternatives – regardless of the outcome! Of course getting such helpful feedback from you guys is yet another awesome benefit; so thanks a bunch chums for all your support and beauty chatters 🙂

Talking of beauty chatters, I have the gorgeous Paige gracing the virtual sofa today as she gives us all a sneak peek behind the scenes of her online haven What Paige. Having trained as a Pharmacist for the last six years, this is one smart & sassy young lady who loves to share her thoughts, knowledge and experiences of all things beautiful! So if that sounds like your kinda space then get yourself over to Paige’s blog and say a huge hello – she’s super welcoming and always enjoys a chatter with readers so expect a warm welcome.

Time to settle your petals for five and maybe refill your tea cup as we go behind the blog with Paige…

In only 5 words describe what readers can expect from your blog:

Excitement, Honesty, Beauty, Food, Fitness

What inspired you to start blogging?

I’m sure a lot of people would say that they love to write, however this is not the case with me. On the other hand I love to talk, and just discuss things with people of all opinions. I spend my day at work talking about only select things (I’m a pharmacist), but I love and enjoy so much more in life than just medicine and health. Enter the blog. While I actually started this blog as a lift-me-up attempt when I was at a lowest low, it has become something that keeps me at a natural high on a consistent basis. I was inspired to reach out to people and connect with readers, just like you, so that we can talk about all of the things that are making us all happy. This blog is more than a hobby, it is therapeutic, and it is something I love, mostly because of the connection with other people.

Tell us about your blog name… what made you decide on it?

I’ve actually changed my blog name once since I started blogging! Formerly known as thelittlethings001 (a name I made up too quickly, without thinking), my blog has been re-vamped to What Paige. I chose this name mostly because it’s a pun on my own name. As a kid people always said, ‘what page are you on Paige??’ It gets old super fast, along with all of the other jokes, but I thought it was clever for a blog because it depicts that my blog is about all of the different sides to me. What Paige just depicts what page I am really on in my life, or what topic I want to be discussing.

Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block & if so how do you overcome it?

For a while I had to take a break from blogging, in order to graduate and become a licensed pharmacist. But during that time I was brainstorming and really determined to come back and make my blog a more permanent part of my life. So while sometimes a little bout of laziness comes in, I don’t necessarily have writers block, because I’m a serious planner, and I had months of a blogging break to come up with a bunch of ideas. Not to say that I don’t get mental blocks about blogging, but I think of all of the other bloggers and readers I enjoy seeing, and it helps me push through!

What’s your favourite post to date?

I’d probably have to say my post, Marc Jacobs, was my favorite to date. Mostly because I was soooo excited to write it and tell the world how happy I was about something so simple. I went out and bought a fragrance and a lipstick by Marc Jacobs and it was a little retail therapy and splurging for myself. I loved the products so much (like a kid on Christmas), and I knew readers would love to know about them. It’s always nice to be sharing something you actually love, rather than posting things you feel you have to share for no reason. Plus this post was a good excuse to talk about makeup and get good feedback from others!

Describe your everyday clothes style:

I would wear sweat pants every day if I could. Why not be comfortable?

What are your current top 3 beauty items?

Currently I am LOVING my Cover Fx foundation, Anastasia Brow Wiz, and Essence Lip Liner in Satin Mauve.

How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?

Honestly, when I get home from work or a stressful day, the first thing I do is change in to sweat pants. Doesn’t everyone do that? But after that I plop down on the couch and try to forget about my day… I usually end up on YouTube watching makeup tutorials.

Describe your ideal Saturday night:

I love going out and hanging out with friends, but ideally I’d just like to have a good homemade dinner, a glass of wine, and watch a movie at home with my boyfriend and his dog Roxy (she melts my heart). The best things are usually the most simple.

What do you do to relax?

I have been trying to go to the gym to relax and relieve stress. It’s surprising how good you feel after just a little bit of activity! But if I’m trying to relax at home I put on some good tunes, light a candle, watch a movie, and put on a hydrating face mask.

Everyone has their bad habits, what’s yours?

I have a bad habit of eating late at night, when I’m not even hungry. It’s just knowing that there is a box of cookies two rooms away, I have to have them… and the habit isn’t just one cookie, or a handful of chips.. it’s the whole box or a bag of anything. Oops.

What’s your most cherished childhood memory?

My parents used to take my brother and I camping when we were little… One thing I really remember vividly is my dad staying up with me to build the biggest campfire, making mountain pies, and staring at the stars.

What was your favourite school subject?

Somehow I really liked math…

What’s your dream job?

Anything where I can help people better themselves or stay healthy (I’m lucky enough to have a job like this).

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Still blogging, still being a pharmacist, hopefully traveling more and having someone to share all of the excitement with.

What top 5 things are on your bucket list?

Vacation in Greece, learn to sail, travel across the United States, have a family of my own, play or see a baby polar bear in person.

What’s your biggest achievement to date?

Graduating from school and receiving my Doctorate of Pharmacy.

Who inspires you?

Both of my parents are really inspiring people.. they love so much, are so hard-working, and are really selfless. My dad has to be the most inspiring to me. He has always encouraged me to be the healthiest and happiest me possible, and he is the most hard-working person I know.

Do you have a favourite inspirational quote?

I don’t really have a favorite quote, but this one reminds me how I feel with my blog… You need to do it because you love it, not because of the outcome:

“You’ve got to get to that stage in life where going for it is more important than winning or losing” ~Arthur Ashe

What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?
