Hey Beauty Buddies,
I’m chuffed to bits that so many of you enjoyed yesterdays makeup feature: My Easy Peasy Makeup Look For Work! It seems I’m not the only one that loves a quick & simple look for heading to the office, for as much as I adore having a treasure trove of cosmetic goodies there’s just those days when keeping it quick and simple wins hands down. So if a selection of everyday staples sounds appealing then do head over and check it out too, you just might end up adding a few everyday staples to your shopping list this week 😉
However onto today’s fun filled interview as I make way on the virtual sofa for yet another talented blogger who’s eager to give us a peak behind the scenes as I’m joined by the lovely Amy from The Makeup Case. Just as the name suggests it’s an online haven for those who enjoy nothing more than a good browse over great reviews, fun features and some of Amy’s top recommendations! So if that sounds like your kinda hangout then get yourself over pronto and say a huge hello, she really is a lovely gal 🙂
Anyways, enough from me, time to grab your biggest tea cup & curl up for five as we go Behind The Blog with Amy…
In only 5 words describe what readers can expect from your blog:
Just 5 words? Ummm… Makeup, fun, makeup, silliness & makeup.
What inspired you to start blogging?
I was watching some beauty videos on YouTube and suddenly thought to myself, “Hey, I could do this too!” But I am so awful on camera and I have no patience for video editing. However, writing has been one of my strongest skills, so I decided to start a blog. And here I am!
Tell us about your blog name… what made you decide on it?
I couldn’t think of a good name for my blog and it was the first thing that came to mind. I still don’t think it’s that great, but I’ve been blogging for almost 2 years now, so I I’m kind of stuck with it I guess.
Do you ever suffer from Blogger’s Block & if so how do you overcome it?
I sometimes do. If I get stuck for an idea, I’ll get up and do something totally unrelated or totally mundane (like fold laundry or clean the bathroom) and sometimes, all of a sudden, an idea will strike out of nowhere.
What’s your favourite post to date?
Probably one I did recently – The Eyeshadow Junkie Tag. I am a MAJOR eyeshadow junkie, so that tag was a lot of fun to do: themakeupcase17.wordpress.com/2016/01/06/the-eyeshadow-junkie-tag/
Describe your everyday clothes style:
I’m pretty casual for the most part. Jeans and a t-shirt are my usual staples. But I’m not sloppy. I have a lot of nice both plan and print t-shirts I can dress up or dress down with accessories and shoes/boots and whatnot.
What are your current top 3 beauty items?
I’d have to say my Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation, Benefit Watt’s Up Highlighter and Essence Gel Liner. Of course all this could change next week, but those are my “can’t live withouts” at the moment.
How do you like to relax & unwind after a stressful day?
I just like to veg out, watch TV and hang out with my cats. Any time I can shut my brain off (which is rare because my brain goes a million miles an hour sometimes) is a good thing.
Describe your ideal Saturday night:
That would be a night where my boyfriend doesn’t have a gig (he’s a local musician – plays guitar) and we can have the rare Saturday night date night, which is usually just going out for dinner and maybe drinks or going to a movie or something. But most Saturday nights, he’s playing, so I usually end up tagging along with him to his gigs as I like to watch him play and it sometimes ends up being a really fun night.
What do you do to relax?
I like to read, watch TV, play with my cats. Shopping is also quite therapeutic for me as well. LOL!
Everyone has their bad habits, what’s yours?
I am the queen of procrastination. I will put of doing something I don’t want to do until I absolutely can’t put it off any longer.
What’s your most cherished childhood memory?
Probably the first time I visited Walt Disney World back in 1978. That visit started a massive theme park love affair that’s still going strong to this day.
What was your favourite school subject?
Creative Writing and Drama.
What’s your dream job?
Rock star! Or doing this blogging thing for a living.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I have absolutely no idea. Hopefully still alive at least. LOL! Hopefully also still blogging or something.
What top 5 things are on your bucket list?
They’re mostly travel-related.
Visit Japan/Tokyo/Tokyo Disneyland
Visit Paris and see the Eiffel Tower in person (I’ve been OBSESSED with the Eiffel Tower since I was a kid)
Test drive a Bugatti Veyronn (the most expensive production car in the world)
See the Tampa Bay Rays win the World Series
What’s your biggest achievement to date?
I really don’t know. Does getting through each day without stabbing a fork in someone’s eye count? LOL!
Who inspires you?
Different people inspire me in different ways. It’s impossible to pick just one or two to mention here.
Do you have a favourite inspirational quote?
“If you can dream it, you can do it.” –Walt Disney
What top tips would you give to someone who is thinking of starting their own blog?
