Product Fails…

Having spent the last number of months hoarding a stash of beauty bits n bobs in my empties basket it’s finally time to raid the contents and pass on my most constructive of criticisms. As much as I’d love to revel in awesome beauty goodies all of the time, occasionally a few bloopers slips into the net… and that’s exactly what today’s YouTube chatter is focusing on; the odds and sods that just haven’t impressed me or could be made so much better with just a little tweeking. Oddly enough I used to dread giving negative feedback but I quickly came to my senses in recognising that without the constructive criticism of others brands wouldn’t be able to develop products into things that we love rather than end up loathing. However it’s time to settle your petals for ten minutes as I bring you my latest disappointing products stash.

  1. Love this vid! I have been saving up some disappointments to blog on (obviously, because we are still weirdly in sync) but I haven’t saved up enough for a substantial post just yet.
I love your description of the hair spray: we’ve all been there. i have given up on own brands and just use elnett 😉 Might have to try the tresemme though.

    • Anne I don’t ever think we’ll fall out of sync as we’re just far too alike in our way huni 😀 I can’t wait to see yours too, it’s always nice reading about great products but equally as interesting reading about things that haven’t worked out too, plus it helps me to retain the spending lol Yes, the hairspray was a ‘just don’t go there’ moment – utterly useless :-/ Though I like the Tresemme, I don’t think it’s as tough holding as the Elnett (which is my ultimate fav too) but still nice for a decent hold and lighter residue – if that makes sense?! 😀 XXX

      • Very true and I also love writing a negative post every once in a while. Really helps curb the spending as well.
I have given up on anything but elnett, though I honestly don’t want to know what is in the formula that makes it that great.

      • It really does, plus it’s good to have a justified rant every once in a while! lol Haaa I dread to think, though it’s sooo good – main thing is it does the job, and smells lovely too!! 😉 xo

  2. These videos are a double edged sword, part of you knows what to potentially steer clear of and the other part feels sorry for the poor blogger who didn’t enjoy these products. I like how you gave alternatives to the disappointing products. What are you wearing on your nails here, they look fab? Xxx

    • lol lol YES!!! That’s so true Chanelle, though if it saves others a few pennies from picking stuff up that ain’t that great then so be it. I’ve taken one for the team!!! lol
Well, I thought I would try to incorporate affordable alternatives that work for me. I often think that I would like to see a positive for a negative in these things so I’m really glad you like that 🙂 Ooh the nails, I’m wearing NYC Permanent Pink with two coats of Miss Sporty Crush on You. It’s so lovely!! Looks really pretty as it gives like a soft goldy/pink sunset effect… here’s the post where you can check out the two 🙂 I love them huni! ❤

  3. Totally with you on the L’Oreal foundation! Mu skin didn’t like it at all, you could see all my pores, it clung to dry patches that I didn’t even know I had and it looked awful! It’s such a shame as well as I really wanted to like it because everyone else seems to rave about it! Loved this video Karen, it was super helpful 🙂 xxx

    • Yes!!!! Rachel that was very similar to me too huni, it just sat there and highlighted every flaw – particularly later into wearing when it dried out. Just like you it was highlighting dry patches on me too, and it wore off so easily on my chin and under my eyes. I was so disappointed as many people love it, I guess we’re just the unlucky ones!! *sigh* Awwh thank you sweetie – I hope you’re keeping well and thank you so much for stopping by for a chatter, it’s always a treat to catch up with you Rachel ❤ XXX

  4. Great video hun and you look gorgeous 😍
I used to hate giving fail or bad review over something that someone had worked so hard to make but I guess that’s how it is. Sometimes people will love a product and sometimes they won’t, lol.
I think if you are true to what’s right for you, people will accept it even if it’s “bad” review 😉
    Sorry for my ramblings, lol.
